Alan Fernandez

Dominican teacher in business development, entrepreneurship and innovation. With a background in Economics and specialization in Entrepreneurial Development and Innovation, he obtained a Master's degree from the University of Salamanca and a certification in SME Development for Developing Countries from Yunnan University. His commitment to promoting business and social initiatives has led him to hold key roles, such as Business Model Advisor at the Universidad Iberoamericana and Head of the Entrepreneurship Development Department at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs of the Dominican Republic. .

He headed programs for the development of entrepreneurial behavior such as Empretec and Aprender para Emprender, and was part of the national team of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM). He is a Program Officer in the European Union, focusing on the development of the private sector, digitization and Regional integration. He has managed cooperation projects to support the private sector, with emphasis on trade facilitation, SMEs, the promotion of entrepreneurship and relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic.

He has also been an active volunteer, leading roles in the Dominican Association of the United Nations (ANU-RD) as President of Volunteering and President Member of the Voluntary Action Social Innovation Center. His commitment to economic and social development is reflected in his participation in programs to promote social and rural entrepreneurship, and in his dedication to charitable causes related to animal protection, civil rights, education and environment. He has been recognized for his vision, work ethic and ability to lead projects that generate great impacts. Also for inspiring others to seek innovative solutions to today's economic and social challenges.
