Anthony Cardona

Anthony S. Cardona DeRosa is the director of the newly created Food and Beverage Sector at the Department of Economic Development and Commerce. He has over 23 years of experience in the field of economic development. Among these, the past 20 years he has held management positions in the Regional Offices of Ponce and San Juan of PRIDCO. In addition, he has served as Business Development Officer in charge of food and beverage in the Department of Economic Development and Commerce.

He holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Science degree in education from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus. He is currently certified in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Preventive Controls (PCQI) and other certifications related to the food and beverage industry.

He is a firm believer in the education, compliance and certification of our nation's manufacturers and farmers. As part of this commitment, it has established the Support to the Food and Business Industry Program, which includes training and technical support incentives. He also established the Hydroponics Program after Hurricane Maria. During his career he has assisted in the creation and development of hundreds of foods and beverage manufacturing businesses.
