Amilea Pieternella-Merchant

Amilea Pieternella-Merchant is a passionate educator and entrepreneur. With over three decades of experience in the subject’s chemistry, physics and entrepreneurship. Amilea specializes as a teacher, imparting knowledge, a consultant, a motivator and a coach.
In the last 28 years teaching and business has been at the core part of my life. The last decade I was able to zoom in on entrepreneurship and seizing the opportunity to give back to others.
One of my standout opportunity is serving as host of junior achievement and the Global Entrepreneurship Week on Bonaire (GEW-B), there is more time to focus on choice of a young individual in becoming either part of the work force or being the one in charge/owner/problem solver. Being a problem solver is important because living on an island has its limitations/opportunities pending on your outlook of life.
I was born on the Island of Sint Eustatius Dutch Caribbean. Now residing on the island of Bonaire also part of Dutch Caribbean. As the host for GEW-Bonaire together with the team from Curacao it was a pleasure to be part of the team that won an award above two hundred countries for work regarding Global Entrepreneurship Week. This was during the 2019 Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Bahrain.
The Caribbean’s voice is very small. We hope by zooming in on Entrepreneurship/problem solving the upcoming years entrepreneurship would continue assisting the Caribbean’s voice, whereas we can then move on to effective collaboration.
It is still a small world after all!
