BAPTISTA MUCHEMI

Baptista Wachira Muchemi, a Kenyan professional, currently serves as the Director of Software Studios Kenya Limited, an IT consulting firm specializing in providing solutions for learning institutions. In collaboration with a fellow director, he is leading a groundbreaking project to digitize over 406 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) courses. This initiative aims to provide comprehensive training opportunities to citizens and extend its impact to the COMESA region. The Kenyan government has shown considerable interest in the project, and ongoing discussions are indicative of its potential significance.
In addition to his role at Software Studios Kenya Limited, Baptista holds the position of Manager at Britam Kenya, where he manages a sales team responsible for marketing insurance products and investment funds. His responsibilities include overseeing sales operations and providing training on insurance and investment fund products. Prior to his current roles, Baptista gained valuable experience working for American International Group in Dubai, UAE, where he sold insurance products and investment funds. In this capacity, he also served as a trainer and field underwriter, contributing to the overall success of the company.
Before his international stint, Baptista was associated with American Life Insurance Company Kenya, where he excelled in selling insurance products and training the sales force. His diverse professional journey includes a role as a Commercial Bank Supervisor at the Central Bank of Kenya and prior involvement in stores management, overseeing the supply chain for a bank. Notably, he began his career at Outrabo, a logistic transport company, as an electrical automotive engineer.
Baptista's educational background comprises a diploma in banking, several certificates in insurance and funds management, and a certificate in electrical automotive engineering. His commitment to continuous learning and professional development is evident in his pursuit of diverse certifications across various domains.
Beyond his corporate endeavors, Baptista is deeply passionate about farming. In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, he explored insect farming as a viable venture. He underwent hands-on training at The International Center for Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) in Kenya, focusing on rearing the Black Soldier Fly larvae—a sustainable alternative protein source for animal feeds.
