Belfu Berkol

Belfu Berkol is a dedicated student, innovator, and 2024 RISE Global Winner recognized for her contributions to biotechnology, nanotechnology, and sustainability. With award-winning research showcased at TÜBİTAK and iGEM, Belfu combines scientific inquiry with a deep sense of social responsibility and leadership.

She is the founder of BioDIF, a startup focused on developing sustainable materials inspired by biomimicry—such as bioplastics from pumpkin shells and green concrete. Her work reflects a vision to translate research into real-world, scalable solutions.

Committed to equity in education, Belfu co-develops initiatives that bring hands-on science to underserved communities, including children in earthquake-affected regions and students with visual impairments. Through her leadership in İhtiyaç Kutum (Needs Box) and active role in WiSTEM, she champions accessible, inclusive STEM education and youth empowerment.

Belfu also contributes to Aplike Beyin, an education and consultancy firm that integrates neuroscience and AI to personalize learning experiences. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges science, entrepreneurship, and community impact—driven by a mission to solve pressing challenges through creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
