I am a Botswana-based Finance Executive, strategic business leader, and governance professional with 20 years of progressive experience spanning financial services, retirement funds, insurance, mining services, logistics, and security. My career has been shaped by my ability to connect financial discipline with commercial strategy, operational execution, governance, and long-term organisational value creation.
I currently serve as Finance & Administration Manager at Mmila Fund Administrators (Pty) Ltd, where I provide strategic leadership across finance, fund administration, financial governance, operational controls, and compliance. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, I operate at the intersection of finance, business strategy, risk, regulation, and executive decision-making within Botswana's retirement-funds and insurance environment.
In my current role, I provide financial and operational oversight for retirement funds with assets exceeding BWP12 billion and more than 13,000 members. My responsibilities include financial strategy, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, taxation, statutory compliance, audit and assurance, cash-flow management, internal controls, operational improvement and people leadership. I also support executive management and Board and Committee decision-making through financial analysis, management reporting and Board-level information.
My contribution extends beyond traditional financial management. I have played a significant role in strengthening financial and operational resilience while supporting business growth. Between 2022 and 2026, the organisation achieved 85% company revenue growth and 101% Group revenue growth, while cash balances improved from approximately BWP542,000 to BWP21 million over the same period. These outcomes reflect my emphasis on disciplined financial management, liquidity, operational efficiency, strategic planning and sustainable business performance.
My experience in the retirement-funds sector has given me a distinctive perspective on the relationship between financial management, governance and long-term economic and social outcomes. Working within an industry where financial decisions ultimately affect members' retirement security has strengthened my appreciation of the importance of sound governance, effective controls, regulatory compliance, operational integrity and responsible stewardship of long-term assets.
One of my significant achievements in my current role was successfully leading the implementation of IFRS 17 for a pension fund with an annuity book, navigating complex accounting and reporting requirements. I also delivered two consecutive clean external audits in 2021 and 2022 for a multi-billion-Pula pension fund. These experiences have strengthened my ability to translate technically complex financial and regulatory requirements into practical organisational outcomes.
My professional journey has provided me with exposure to a broad range of business environments and organisational models. Before joining Mmila, I served as Managing Consultant at Fine Consult (Pty) Ltd, providing outsourced finance leadership and advisory services to corporate clients. My work covered financial reporting, management accounting, audit readiness, investment appraisal, performance improvement and business continuity. During this period, I was also appointed Interim Head of Finance at MRI Botswana during a critical leadership transition, providing senior finance leadership in a complex and changing environment.
From 2017 to 2019, I served as Finance Director at AECI Botswana, a mining-services business within AECI Limited, a Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed multinational group. In that role, I led finance, IT and procurement while overseeing financial strategy, performance management, cash flow, statutory compliance, management reporting, investment appraisal and capital-allocation decisions.
One of my notable achievements at AECI was spearheading the implementation of SAP ERP, including system configuration, user training and post-implementation optimisation. Following the implementation, the business achieved zero audit findings in 2018, the first such result in the company's history. This experience reinforced my belief that technology delivers sustainable value when it is combined with strong processes, capable people, effective controls and disciplined change management.
Prior to AECI, I served as Regional Finance Manager at Letshego Holdings Limited, a Botswana Stock Exchange-listed Pan-African financial-services group. I led regional finance operations and consolidated reporting across subsidiaries in East and Southern Africa, while overseeing period-end close processes, audit coordination, regulatory compliance and the development of regional finance capability.
