Begashaw Meberate

I am Begashaw Meberate, an Ethiopian agripreneurs and the CEO & Founder of Bfarm-Tech, an agri-tech company transforming smallholder agriculture through mechanization and digital connectivity. My professional background is in Agriculture, with a Master’s Degree in Rural Development Management from Bahir Dar University and over 15 years of experience working in both government and non-governmental organizations in Ethiopia. I stated my entrepreneurial journey in January 2020 after receiving the Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) seed capital of USD 5,000, which I invested in a multi-crop thresher. This allowed me to begin offering rental threshing services to rural smallholder farmers.
Bfarm-Tech provides a digital platform (mobile app + call canter) that connects farmers with mechanization service providers, helping them access tractors, threshers, and agricultural services more efficiently and at lower cost. Our platform aims to eliminate bottlenecks in Ethiopia’s fragmented mechanization market by streamlining service delivery, improving productivity, and supporting women and youth farmers.
Today, Bfarm-Tech is evolving into a comprehensive digital ecosystem that connects farmers to mechanization, inputs, advisory services, and climate-smart solutions. At this stage of growth, support from partners, investors, and ecosystem builders is crucial to help us scale, fully digitize agro-mechanization services, and create widespread positive impact for millions of smallholder farmers across Ethiopia.
