Dr. Dhikra Amel Bouzid is an Associate Professor at the University Center of Illizi whose career reflects a deep commitment to bridging academic learning with real-world application. With more than twelve years of experience in higher education, student engagement, community development, and interdisciplinary research, she brings a comprehensive and forward-looking vision to her role as Director of BLUE – The Office of the Institution’s Relationship with the University. Her work is driven by a belief in the transformative power of education and the necessity of building strong, structured partnerships between universities and socio-economic institutions.

Dr. Bouzid’s academic trajectory spans English Studies, critical pedagogy, civic education, educational leadership, and emerging interdisciplinary fields such as AI-mediated learning. Her research and teaching philosophy center on student empowerment, participatory learning, and the integration of community-based experiences into university curricula. Over the course of her career, she has designed and led multiple initiatives that encourage students to become active contributors to their communities, independent thinkers, and skilled professionals capable of creating their own opportunities rather than relying solely on traditional employment pathways.

Her long-standing engagement with youth-focused programs—including debate networks, leadership training platforms, service-learning projects, and international exchange initiatives—has equipped her with an exceptional understanding of the skills, mindsets, and competencies today’s students need to thrive. Through her involvement in national and international programs such as Young Arab Voices, the Algerian Debate Competition, and global video-conference exchange initiatives, she has developed a strong foundation in communication, cross-cultural negotiation, and civic participation. These experiences have shaped her ability to connect academic environments with the evolving demands of the labor market and the expectations of modern institutions.

As Director of BLUE, Dr. Bouzid leads an office whose primary mission is to serve as a functional and strategic bridge between the university and its institutional partners. BLUE plays a crucial role in aligning academic programs with the real needs of the economic and social sectors. Under her leadership, the office prioritizes four major dimensions: strengthening practical training, bringing faculties closer to institutions, supporting professional integration, and cultivating an entrepreneurial spirit among students.

Her strategy for BLUE includes establishing strong university–industry partnerships, facilitating student internships and applied projects, and promoting research and development collaborations. She works to ensure that training programs remain relevant, high-quality, and responsive to current technological and societal changes. Dr. Bouzid also places a strong emphasis on developing the competencies of students across humanities, social sciences, and technical fields by promoting interdisciplinary approaches and by encouraging the integration of foreign languages, communication skills, management, and project development into their training.

Mentoring Experience
My mentoring experience is rooted in more than a decade of guiding students, youth leaders, and early-career professionals through academic, personal, and professional development pathways. I have mentored students in communication, leadership, research skills, and civic engagement, helping them gain confidence, build competencies, and clarify their goals. Through debate programs, service-learning initiatives, and community projects, I have supported young people in developing agency, critical thinking, and a sense of social responsibility. I also mentor students preparing for internships, job applications, and entrepreneurship projects, offering individualized guidance on CV writing, interviews, and project design. My approach is empathetic, collaborative, and empowering, ensuring that each learner feels supported and capable of achieving meaningful growth.
