Camilo Pinzón

Camilo Pinzón Orbe is an Ecuadorian economist with a specialization in Sustainable Development and a Master's Degree in Business Administration. According to VISTAZO Magazine he is one of the 50 most influential people in the private sector in Ecuador in 2019. His broad experience in the public, academic, private and non-governmental sector have given him a broad vision of the social and economic reality of the Latin American region, allowing him to fund and direct organizations, corporations and foundations aimed at contributing to build better societies, focused on the Sustainable Development Objectives of Agenda 2030.

He successfully promoted through the AEI network an economic recovery strategy after the 2016 earthquake in the Ecuadorian coastal region that affected more than 45,000 people. The innovative strategy articulated the private and public sector as well as the academia, creating practical solutions for more than 4.000 families by means of an economic fund of 10 million dollars that is still active, and contributed to reactivate the economy after this natural disaster.

Camilo is the cofounder and managing director of Startups Ventures, an angel and venture capital firm. He is also the cofounder and dean of EDES Business School from UTPL University – (Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja), building in just 3 years one of the leading business schools in the country with more than 4.000 people reached from corporations, SME´s and StartUps from all around de country. In 2019 EDES received the award from the local government of Pichincha for the most important academic Institution in Promoting Innovation and Sustenainability in the region. On the other hand, since 2018, Camilo is the Executive Director of CIFAL Miami, an International Training Centre for Local Actors that belongs to a Global Network of UNITAR, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research. This center offers training and exchange of knowledge of good practices, tools, and strategies, in order to support and strengthen the leadership of government authorities and civil society leaders. This is the first time an Ecuadorian institution leads from Miami a training project for local leaders in Latin America with the support of United Nations (Cifal-UNITAR). 

Camilo is the co-founder and President during 6 years of the CEIE (Corporation for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Ecuador), an organization which leads the development of an innovative and entrepreneurial ecosystem in Ecuador through the AEI network. More than 6.000 entrepreneurs and more than 100 big corporations have been transforming his business models to generate growth and development for their communities.
