Camilo Vergara Munera

Currently I work like CINO at Heliosanto supporting people to find their own capabilities through experiential learning programs.

Due to the involvement in educational settings both urban and rural areas as a student, I understood through first-hand experience the vacuums and the successes of the public university education in Colombia and I could identify huge troubles in the process of regionalization. There are signals communicating things that few people are listening and that indifference is leaving scars in the society.

After trying and achieve the failure and the triumph in initiatives like ice cream production, research in meat science and animal nutrition at Universidad de Antioquia, animal feed manufacture, the activation of rural communities, an open innovation system for rural production and see that I always ended up doing activities with social sense and some of them related with education, I decided to focus full time on that topic, quit my Livestock and Agriculture Engineering and passionately tackle global issues of learning and school.

Working for about a year and a half researching and understanding problems like coverage, dropped outs, youth unemployment and disengagement I led the developing of a methodology, a pedagogical model, the educational strategy and products for the teaching of soft skills in disadvantaged and vulnerable places.

In 2015, Heliosanto has been recognized in edupreneurship events as one of the seven most promising educational projects in Bogota (Edu4me) where we presented an online platform of shared knowledge and we reached the semifinal at the largest Colombian entrepreneurship contest (Ventures).
