Dr. Chafiq Hamdouchi is a seasoned scientific entrepreneur and translational strategist with over 30 years of experience leading drug discovery and development initiatives across academia, big pharma, and biotech. He specializes in accelerating therapeutic innovation from early-stage science to clinical readiness and commercial opportunity, with deep domain expertise in oncology, diabetes, neuroscience, and anti-infectives.
As Co-Director of the Cancer Drug Discovery and Development Accelerator (CD3A) at Indiana University’s NCI-designated Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dr. Hamdouchi has built an industry-grade translational platform within an academic ecosystem—recruiting over 17 pharma veterans and implementing a milestone-driven process to move academic assets from bench to IND. CD3A serves as a biotech accelerator within the university, enabling licensing, startup formation, and external partnerships with investors and industry.
CD3A’s impact was recently recognized during Indiana University’s successful renewal of its NCI Cancer Center Support Grant, with reviewers calling it “a major strength of the program” and recommending it be promoted as a flagship initiative. The platform now supports a growing portfolio of oncology programs poised for commercial advancement.
Previously, Dr. Hamdouchi spent 24 years at Eli Lilly and Company, where he held the role of Senior Research Advisor and led global drug discovery teams across the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He contributed to the development of over a dozen clinical candidates and played a pivotal role in launching Lilly’s first R&D outsourcing strategy in Asia, delivering four clinical-stage assets. He is a recipient of the Lilly President’s Scientific Award and Executive Board Recognition Award for scientific excellence and global innovation.
In parallel with his academic and industry leadership, Dr. Hamdouchi serves as Chief Scientific Officer at P2K Dynamics Inc., a biotech company focused on first-in-class oncology therapeutics. He has co-led multiple NIH and foundation-funded programs and holds numerous patents across oncology, diabetes, and neuroscience.
As an educator and mentor, he has trained over 130 postdoctoral fellows and faculty in translational science, startup strategy, and therapeutic innovation. Dr. Hamdouchi is passionate about bridging the gap between academic research and venture creation, bringing together scientific rigor and commercial execution to deliver next-generation therapeutics to patients.
