Daniel Kasongo KALONJI

Since 2005, Daniel Kalonji began to work as a freelance conference interpreter (English-French) in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). With time and experience, Daniel’s language services, in both translation and interpretation became highly recommended by several groups of clients, including international and local NGOs, international organizations, private companies in various fields, government ministries and agencies, firms and private individuals. 

In 2012, Daniel decided to organize into a company to allow his activities to be formally established and offer more professional services to his growing and more demanding clients’ base. Kalda was thus created. In addition to its original language services, Kalda also positioned itself as a provider of business services and solutions which gradually were being requested by its clients. These services include among others: admin support, back office, subcontracting… 

Currently, Daniel works more as a company manager overviewing the whole translation cycle and quality. He likes to view himself more in the light of an entrepreneur. 

Over the years, Kalda built a network of experienced language consultants, both local and foreign, that help the company meet its clients’ needs. Kalda is also always striving to look for young talents in order to offer them a real professional experience/opportunity, while benefiting from young and fresh ideas. Daniel provides supervision for all company activities to be conducted as it ought, including operations, HR, accounting, legal, taxes, marketing… all of which are performed by skilled experts. 

Prompted by Daniel’s own story and development from a freelancer to a company manager, Kalda started contemplating the prospects of helping young businesspeople in the making and project holders to benefit from its experience and network to grow their own ideas. In line with this, Kalda has set up an annual event organized, with invitees including clients, actors of the business sector, project developers, relevant government bodies connected to economic development… 

They meet to discuss and share new ideas on a topic related to the promotion of entrepreneurship and the improvement of the business environment. The Event named KAMP (Kalda Annual Meeting of Clients and Partners) has been held several times since 2012; and 2024 was the 10th edition.
