Daphne Gomez

I am Daphne Gomez and I am currently working as an Academic Coordinator and English Language teacher for grade 5 and 6 at Roots Milleninum – Hammersmith Campus, holding a degree of Masters in Economics. I have an almost 15 years of teaching experience. I began my career in teaching in Beaconhouse School System; I was associated with this organization for around 11 years, in the role of a teacher and Academic School Coordinator as well. During my teaching tenure I have attended several workshops, webinars and completed some certified teaching courses like BCT (Beaconhouse Certificate of Teaching), DTwICT (Diploma in teaching with ICT), DEP (Developing Early Years Professionals), DTL (Diploma in teaching and Learning as a Mentor) and DTDT (Diploma in Digital Technology as a Mentor). Apart from this I have also worked as a Primary Years Curriculum designer and scriptwriter for Sabaq Foundation. All the more I have worked as an Online English Language Teacher for a Japanese website Engoo.com. My role is to motivate and engage learners in a comfortable learning environment. It is my responsibility to ensure effective learning is taking place within classrooms. As I have also completed my training as a Project Based Learning candidate, I also have the responsibility to integrate subjects and design projects making cross-curricular links and collaborating with students and schools across the globe. I strongly believe that every child is unique and has the potential to perform to his/her best ability if they are provided with a conducive learning environment. In order for maximizing learning I need to ensure that all my learners are catered to and for this I need to continuously update myself with the new teaching and learning pedagogies. I also think that evaluating our teaching practices can benefit both the teacher and the learners.
