Rena Purdy is the executive director of the Wayne County Joint Economic and Community Development Board (JECDB). Prior to employment with the JECDB, she served eight years as executive director of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and was an employee of ATSA (A. Tomlinson/ Sims Advertising), an advertising and public relations firm in Florence Alabama. She is a graduate of Columbia State Community College (A.S. General Studies) and The University of North Alabama (B.S. in Communications). She is a graduate of the first class of Tennessee’s Certified Economic Developers (UT) and graduate of the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce Executives Institute, Gattis Leadership, TVA Rural Leadership Institute and TVA Workforce Institute. As executive director, she plays an active role in community discussions to keep better informed of issues and facilitates local programming to support positive change in Wayne County and the surrounding region.
Rena has served on various boards and committees including the South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance, South Central Tennessee Tourism and TN River Trails associations, is a past president of Buffalo/Duck River RC&D Council and Rotary Club of Waynesboro and is a member of the Southern Middle Local Workforce Development Board.
