Duane Rollins

Duane Rollins is a designer, educator, and non-profit leader trying to do a little more good around the nation's capital. He currently serves as the Vice President of Impact and Research at SEED SPOT, a social impact incubator focused on educating, accelerating, and investing in entrepreneurs who are creating solutions to social problems. 

Prior to SEED SPOT, Duane worked as a UX and Instructional Designer at 18F, a digital consultancy within the GSA transforming the way the government builds and buys digital services. In his role, he received an Administrator’s Award for helping to improve citizen-facing services along with leading the creation of a new, innovative program to help retrain the federal workforce on modern digital practices at the Department of Labor. 

He has also worked at Threespot where he led digital strategy engagements with clients such as the Department of State, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the USO, and Harvard Business School among others. His work is experienced daily by millions of users across the globe.

Additionally, he was one of the first instructors of the evening UX Design program at General Assembly DC and helped create a two-week summer program at Georgetown University for high school students to teach them basic coding and data visualization skills.

As a co-founder of the Washington Leadership Academy, a public charter high school in DC, he helped craft the four-year computer science curriculum for the charter through STEMLY, a nonprofit he helped co-found with his brother and friend from college, and served as the founding Vice-Chair of the Board of the school. Washington Leadership Academy was recognized for its innovative model by receiving the XQ Super School Prize.

Previous experience also includes doing data visualization work at Juice Analytics and process engineering for General Electric.
