my business cards say such things as associate, managing director and executive director.

that’s the “functional” me. but when you get right down to it, i’m much more—i’m a marketer, an entrepreneur, a communicator, a business strategist and a technical geek (life sciences and biotechnology focused).

i’m also a big believer in the power and promise of scientific discovery.

i believe that we don’t buy into new ideas or dogma unless it answers the “what’s in it for me..?” (wiifm) question to our own satisfaction.

we don’t make our minds up based on facts and figures. we make decisions based on emotion, “gut feel” and innate common sense.

we believe when we are moved.

we believe when we are captivated and engaged to the point that we drop whatever it is we’re doing and say, “bloody hell. that really makes good sense...!!”

in my roles i try to help coach my people and the organisation in how to create that reaction. in addition to performing my “functional” role i coach my employees and others seeking new markets how to communicate their innovations and ideas in a memorable, engaging, and highly personal way, so that they will answer the wiifm question and in doing so connect with the right audiences and help move them toward their objectives.
