Eddison Shumba
I am an entrepreneur, strategic advisor, and venture capital fellow with over a decade of experience in the African startup ecosystem. As the Founder & CEO of TIMO, I lead a company transforming the travel and mobility sector with innovative solutions that benefit both tourists and corporate clients. My expertise spans financial modeling, market strategy, and investment readiness, helping early-stage ventures scale sustainably and become investor-ready.
Beyond my role at TIMO, we are pioneering ProtoSeed Ventures, a $3.5M pre-seed innovation fund backing student-led AI, E-commerce, and IoT startups in Ghana and South Africa. This fund follows a venture studio approach, providing hands-on support in product development, go-to-market execution, and investor readiness. Drawing from our partner experience in managing $20M+ in investments and training 1,000+ entrepreneurs, ProtoSeed leverages deep networks across universities, accelerators, and industry leaders to support high-potential founders before they reach mainstream VC.
I am deeply committed to mentoring and empowering entrepreneurs, actively supporting startup ecosystems through organizations such as the Tony Elumelu Foundation, UNIDO GCIP-SA, Global Startup Awards, WE4A, and AIC 2024. Additionally, I serve as a Program Coach Consultant with the 54 Collective and contribute to initiatives like the Begreen Tech Africa Programme, Ford Mobility Fellowship (Watson Institute), and Startup Bootcamp (Timbuktoo healthtech accelerator).
As a CatalyzU Cohort 6 and VC LAB Fellow, I continuously refine investment strategies and develop frameworks that accelerate high-growth ventures. Whether through strategic investment guidance, operational optimization, or market expansion strategies, my mission is to support entrepreneurs in unlocking opportunities, securing funding, and driving sustainable economic impact across Africa.
