Edgar Soto

Dr. Edgar Soto Rodríguez has a Doctorate in Business Administration with a specialty in International Business and Leadership from Argosy University in Sarasota, Florida. He also has a BSBA and a MBA from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus. For the past 30 years Dr. Edgar Soto has been active in diverse initiatives to foster the entrepreneurial culture in Puerto Rico. In the nineties he worked for the local Small Business Development Center (PR-SBDC) providing counseling and assistance to current and prospective entrepreneurs as well as coordinating special outreach programs like symposiums, faculty development programs, and the first Spanish guide on how to start your own business. As special programs coordinator for the PR-SBDC, Dr. Soto coordinated in 1993 and 1995 the very first international conferences to promote the entrepreneurial culture in Puerto Rico (The First Rountable In Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development, and The Latinamerican Congress on Entrepreneurial Spirit). In late nineties and early 2000, he coordinated the very first initiatives of women and rural entrepreneurship in the island. Dr. Soto is one of the founding members of the Puerto Rico and Caribbean Affiliate of the Internacional Council on Small Business where he served as board member for 17 years. He is also active member of the American Marketing Association, and the United States Association on Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). He currently teaches strategic management and marketing courses, with an entrepreneurial twist, at UPR-Mayaguez.
