Eranda Ginige is the Founder of Social Enterprise Lanka (SELANKA), the pioneer in building a thriving social enterprise sector in Sri Lanka. He also acts as Ambassador for Democracy Earth to Sri Lanka, promoting blockchain-based Liquid Democracy.
Eranda is the Author of the first book written in Sinhala on the subject of Social Entrepreneurship titled “How to become a Successful Social Entrepreneur – Handbook of Social Entrepreneurs“.
Eranda holds a Master’s degree in Project Management and Business from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and a Bachelor’s degree in Genetics, Microbiology and Biochemistry from Bangalore University in India. He is the former Head of Innovation, Partnerships and Business Development at the British Council in Sri Lanka.
Ginige has worked in Sri Lanka and abroad in the private sector and development sector for over 14 years. He has developed a number of innovative programmes to develop entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka including IDEATORS – Next Generation Entrepreneurs reality TV show, Youth Enterprise Awards, National Entrepreneurship Week 2009 during his illustrious career at the British Council.
Eranda started the recent movement of Social Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship in Sri Lanka by organising FUTURES – Social Innovation Forum held in 2014. He is the co-creator and host of the popular television show “ATH PAVURA” which promotes Sri Lankan social entrepreneurs and impact investors.
Ginige spends most of his time helping social entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka to start and grow their social businesses. Eranda regularly speaks about social innovation, sustainability and liquid democracy at local and international forums and is a popular writer on these subjects.
