Essa Khan

Dr. Essa Khan is an accomplished academic, researcher, trainer, and consultant with over 25 years of combined experience in higher education, entrepreneurship development, leadership training, and industry engagement across Pakistan and the United Kingdom. He is currently serving as an Associate Professor at the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), Karachi, where his academic and professional work centers on entrepreneurship education, corporate entrepreneurship, leadership, and talent management, with a strong emphasis on integrating theory with practice.
Dr. Khan holds a PhD in Corporate Entrepreneurship, and his doctoral research titled “Promoting Corporate Entrepreneurship through Talent Management” offers valuable insights into how organizations can foster internal entrepreneurial behavior through strategic human capital management. His academic background also includes an MBA in General Management and a Higher Education Diploma from the University of Northampton, UK, reflecting a solid foundation in management practice and pedagogy.
Over the course of his academic career, Dr. Khan has held several leadership and administrative roles and has taught entrepreneurship, leadership, and management courses at undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. He views entrepreneurship not only as new venture creation, but as a strategic and organizational capability relevant to corporations, public institutions, and social enterprises. At IoBM, he teaches BBA, MBA, and PhD students and actively contributes to curriculum development aligned with industry needs, accreditation standards, and global best practices.
Dr. Khan is a prolific researcher with 18+ peer-reviewed publications in SSCI-, ABS-, and impact-factor journals. His research interests lie at the intersection of entrepreneurship, leadership, talent management, and organizational behavior, with a particular focus on corporate entrepreneurship and innovative work behavior. His work has been published in leading international journals, and he has also contributed a book chapter to a Springer-edited volume on intellectual capital and organizational performance. He has supervised and graduated more than 100 MBA research students, emphasizing methodological rigor, ethical research practices, and real-world relevance.
In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Khan maintains strong engagement with industry and entrepreneurial ecosystems. He has worked extensively to strengthen university–industry linkages, including coordinating corporate advisory committees, organizing entrepreneurship events such as Global Entrepreneurship Week, and mentoring student-led entrepreneurial initiatives such as Ideapreneurship. He is also a recognized trainer and consultant, having served as an official trainer for the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, the British Council, and the Social Enterprise Academy (UK/Scotland), delivering programs in entrepreneurship, leadership, faculty development, and pedagogical innovation.
