Amos Fon

Amos Fon’s career spans over 35years in the Social Economy; Credit Unions Management, Non-profits and University teaching in Cameroon. He started humbly as a Credit Union Field-worker, Manager and ended as the General Manager of a Credit Union Network. His passion came into focus with the founding of African Dream in 2010. African Dream is a Social Business with the mission to develop potentials; empower youths, women and communities to assume responsibility for their livelihood challenges.
Born and raised in Bamenda - Cameroon, Amos challenged enormous setbacks to emerge as a mentor and a role model to thousands of young people through his inspirational works and talks. He is extremely passionate about the development challenges of Sub-Saharan Africa, with Research interest in wealth creation and Microfinance as a veritable development intervention.
Amos obtained a Master of Science in International Community Economic Development (MSc. ICED) specializing in Microenterprise Development from Southern New Hampshire University, Manchester- USA. At BRAC University in Bangladesh, he took a professional course in Financial Services for the Poor. Recently, he was awarded a MasterCard Foundation Scholarship in setting up and managing Savings and Loans Associations from the University of New Hampshire – USA. He is a Fellow of the Microfinance Association in London.
He is the Founder and Executive Director of African Dream – Cameroon Center for Microfinance Management and Entrepreneurship Development – CCEMMED. African Dream is a Social Business initiated in 2009 with the mission to develop potentials; empower people, organizations and communities to assume responsibility for their economic development challenges. He has over 30 years in the Corporate World, Microfinance and Credit Unions development and Management, Non-profits management and University teaching. He is a Development Consultant and Trainer in Microfinance and Entrepreneurship at various levels and institutions in Cameroon. These include the United States Peace Corps, University of Bamenda, the National Employment Fund amongst others. Amos is the Global Learning Partner and Cameroon’s Representative for the Microfinance Association in London. He is Cameroon’s champion for Child and Youth Finance, a Netherlands based INGO focused on child and youth economic citizenship. He is currently working on creating a network of Youth Economic Empowerment Groups – YEEGs in Cameroon.
