Francisco Malesela Kgoboko is an Entrepreneur, Chemical & Mineral Processing Engineer, Founder and CEO of FMK Global Holdings Engineering Consultancy, Co-founder of Startup Nation Botswana, Farming Entrepreneur and Youth & Economic Empowerment Activist, Chair Person, Patron and Founder
His entrepreneurial pursuits, fuelled by his passion for economic empowerment, cut across several industry sectors. He founded FMK Global to offer turnkey engineering solutions for companies in the mining and construction sectors. His successful commercial integrated farming business encompasses horticulture, fodder production, farm produce, amongst other disciplines.
Francisco has enjoyed a career spanning ten (10) years in Engineering, Project Management and executive management positions at mining companies such as Debswana Diamond Company & De Beers Group, Namdeb, BCL Copper & Nickel, Commissioned Karowe Diamond Mine (where the record breaking stone ‘Lesedi la Rona’ was recovered), Fabrimill Engineering and Kenako Diamond Processing Company. Francisco has managed both surface and underground mining operations with tremendous strategy and leadership skills. His initiatives have resulted in increased efficiencies, high shareholder returns, huge cost containment, revenue improvement, a highly motivated workforce, and visible contribution to the bottom line. He remains a global consultant and mentor in the engineering field where he mentors up and coming engineers as well as entrepreneurs.
Recently, Francisco has a passion for economic development of his home country, Botswana and the African continent - found Startup Nation Botswana. Startup Nation Botswana is an ambitious startup that is set to power up African built and led innovations while raising the flag and representing Botswana to the world. It offers an accelerator program that scales up existing startups in Botswana and Africa, organises what is set to be the largest Clean-Tech Summit in Africa and last but not least, runs an innovation factory set to bring the best technologies to solve local needs in Botswana.
Francisco is the Founding Chair Person of Botswana Alumni Association, Patron of Botswana Primary Schools Sport Association( BoPSSA) with over 765 Schools.
Francisco’s deepest wish is to see communities united and developed to meet 21st century demands. His public figure page on Facebook has a following of circa 43,000 youth followers.
He holds a Chemical Engineering degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada. Additionally, he has undergone executive education in Management Development with the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
He is a Motswana, from Mabolwe in the Bobirwa region of Botswana. Born from a family of 13, Son of a Pastor. He is married to Valerie Mmabontle Kgoboko and they are blessed with two children, Ayanna (girl) aged 8 and Atang (Boy) aged 5. He enjoys outdoor life and soccer, roller skating and is passionate about farming.
