Freddie McAneney

My name’s Freddie McAneney. I’m a 21-year-old finance major at the Kelley School of Business with a competitive edge that’s been wired into me for as long as I can remember. I grew up playing sports—always chasing that next win, not just on the field, but in everything I did. That mindset never really turned off. In school, at work, or in my own projects, I’ve always been someone who takes things seriously and pushes for more.

I’ve never liked sitting around or doing the bare minimum. I’ve worked multiple jobs in the summers when I'm home—not just for the paycheck, but because I like staying busy. I like having something to build toward, and I’ve always felt like the more I take on, the sharper I get.

I served as the Head of Recruitment for Phi Sigma Kappa, I connected with hundreds of students, quickly assessed character, and built genuine relationships. Also serving on the IFC Judicial Board further strengthened my ability to navigate conflict, read social dynamics, and earn trust—skills that have made me naturally effective with people.

In Spring 2025, I studied abroad in Barcelona, and that’s where a real turning point happened. My co-founder Adam and I were out to dinner with a big group of friends when we ran into the same problem for the hundredth time—splitting the bill. It was awkward, messy, and inefficient. That night, the idea for our app Fairshare was born. We started sketching out a solution that would let everyone pay for exactly what they ordered, directly from their phone, and have one person pay the restaurant and get instantaneously reimbursed.

What started as a frustrating moment turned into something real we could build—and we’ve been working on it ever since.
