Gary Urteaga

Gary is Founder of Holosens where he has incubated and mentored Startups which have received research and development grants from FINCyT-FIDECOM, seed capital from accelerators like Telefonica’s Wayra, 500 Startups from Silicon Valley, Startup Chile, Startup Brazil, Startup Mexico, Startup Peru and angel investors.  In his role as co-founder of CinePapaya.com, Gary delivered the winning pitch at the APEC INTEL Challenge in Taiwan competing with hardware and software startups from 23 Asia Pacific countries, as well as the  LAB4+ Pacific Alliance Innovation Forum in Chile. CinePapaya has received a USD 2.5 million in venture capital investments, taking his Startup incorporated in 2012 to a market valuation of over USD 30 million by 2015. Gary is a serial entrepreneur with a passion for technology. He received the President of Peru 2010 Prize for demonstrated merits in matters of innovation and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Universidad San Ignacio de Loyola in Peru in 2014. Gary is Ambassador of Singularity University in Peru, founder of the International Congress of Exponential Technologies and Director of the Global Impact Competition for Peru, with the objective to identify the most innovative Peruvians and each year award the winner with a scholarship to Singularity University’s Graduate Studies Program in Silicon Valley. In August 2015, Gary was selected as Global Endeavor Entrepreneur in San Francisco, California. Gary is a PhD Candidate and Master in International Political Economy from Tsukuba University in Japan, graduate of the Masters of Governability from Universidad San Martin de Porres in Peru, Master in Science of Economics from Florida State University and Bachelor in Science of Business Administration and Economics from the University of West Florida in the United States. Gary has been an economic consultant for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) specialized in the formulation and evaluation of industrial investment projects.
