Hala Sulaiman

Hala Ahmed Sulaiman, is the Founder and Managing Director of Beyond Borders Consultancy focused on providing strategic management and communication consultancy. Hala Sulaiman has extensive expertise in the Middle East market and has created and implemented holistic marketing communications strategies, and used her extensive knowledge and skills to engage with the various stakeholders in the various public and private sector roles she has contributed to. Hala Sulaiman’s experience of over 25 years is in the fields of Strategic Management and Communication and has launched several start-ups in both the Public and Private Sector.
In her capacity as an in-house consultant, she is currently the Director of the Executive office of Bahrainouna (the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce the Values of Nationalism).
She also Co-Founded AlRawi Media WLL WLL, an innovative and award-winning audiobook application specialised in Arabic Books (@alrawibooks).
Most recently she served a 3-year tenure as a board member of Radio Bahrain Company, a wholly subsidiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain’s Sovereign Wealth Fund (Mumtalakat).
She formerly served as the Director of Marketing and Communications in Tamkeen during which she was responsible for Tamkeen’s positioning and clarifying the effective role it plays in shaping the future of Bahrain’s labour market and enabling Bahrainis and the private sector. During her tenure at Tamkeen, she was seconded as part of the strategic team responsible for setting the policies and frameworks for the media center at the National Dialogue held in the Kingdom of Bahrain in 2011.
She also led the “Gender Balance and Equal Opportunity Committee” in Tamkeen that ensured that all programmes delivered and activities executed are based on competency and fairness and not gender-based.
She possesses extensive experience in the telecommunications sector in which the local market transitioned from a monopoly to a competitive one, having worked with Batelco, and Communications Consultant and Communications Manager in Zain (formerly known as MTC-Vodafone).
Ms. Sulaiman is passionate about media, having completed several projects in the audio, visual, and print media, and worked as a correspondent for Bahrain Radio & Television Corporation, MBC FM, Arab News, and Gulf Daily News. Ms. Sulaiman has more than 25 years of experience in media, broadcasting, and journalism.
She has attained her MBA with credit from Strathclyde University (Glasgow, Scotland), CMI Level 7 Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice and Chartered Manager. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications and Marketing from the University of Bahrain, and is member of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM), as well as acquired numerous diplomas and certifications in communications public relations, marketing, human resources management and Leadership from Said Business School, Oxford University, DePaul University and University of Virginia, Darden School of Business. She is a graduate of the first cohort of “BBK Women on Boards Program” and also completed a Political Women Empowerment Programme under the Bahrain Institute for Political Development and Supreme Council for Women.
She is a well-regarded public speaker and moderator and has been a jury member in several local and international events related to Entrepreneurship, Business, Technology, media and women and youth related sectors and domains. She was a board member of Bahrain Businesswomen Society in the capacity of Board Secretary, in addition to board and leadership positions in the International Advertising Association Bahrain Chapter, Social Media Club Bahrain Chapter and Global network and a founding board member of GEN (the Global Entrepreneurship Network) Bahrain Chapter.
Ms. Sulaiman has won several regional and global awards on a personal and professional level and on behalf of her business and the organisations she worked for.
