Hussain Jinan

Jinan has over 17 years experience in the field of sustainable development as well as the development of SME’s and in the Development of the Startup Ecosystem in the Maldives. He brings immense experience in multi-sectorial backgrounds such as tourism, women empowerment, policy and strategic formulation and startups. He has been instrumental in implementing many SME development programmes in the Maldives, having worked closely with high profile clients from government as well as the corporate sector. He is Prince2 Foundation certified (2007) from The APM Group Limited.

His work in UNDP Maldives for over 9 years focused on the socio-economic growth (he was also the officer in charge for Poverty Reduction unit) before he joined the Ministry of Economic Development as a consultant, where he played a vital role in developing the SME sector through various initiatives and structuring the Enterprise Development in Maldives, laying out the frameworks & business model for Business Center Corporation. Jinan was instrumental in developing the business case for establishing an SME Bank in Maldives and worked on the initial establishment & fact findings.

He is the co-founder / CEO of Sparkhub LLP, a management consultancy firm specializing its core resources in strengthening the startup ecosystem of Maldives. He is the co-founder and managing director of Encreare Pvt Ltd, a branding and market strategizing business. He is the COO of OXIQA PVT LTD, a cyber-security and agile software development company. He recently started a new venture - PurpleLane App, which is a reward based programme now used by many stores in Maldives.

In his role for the development of Startup Ecosystem in Maldives, he has been instrumental in negotiating and introducing many internationally acclaimed startup products/events to Maldives. Jinan is the ambassador for Seedstars and Angelhack Maldives, Chapter Director of Startup Grind X Maldives, Lead Organizer of Techstars - Startup Weekend Maldives and Lean Startup Machine Maldives.
