Christopher Ibeh

My name is Ibeh Christopher Azubuike, a graduate of Federal University of technology Owerri Nigeria who studied Biotechnology with second class lower Hons. I have been a strong advocate of the global safety of the environment in everyday activities.
I have been able to impact this change severally, example was during my undergraduate studies at the University, I did an industrial training exercise at Environmental research services of the Research and development division of Nigerian national petroleum corporation, during this period of training I was able to lecturey co workers on several topics as related to the environments such as the impact of global warming, the greenhouse effect etc in our Health safety and environment program.
After my graduation, I ventured into farming as a business and throughout my activities as a farmer, I have been observing and teaching my students the best global standard of practicing agriculture.

You can play a part in preserving the environment by:

Reducing food waste
Composting
Recycling
Using alternate fuels or ethanol mixes
Reducing water use.

The following practices I have engaged in has helped preserve the environment:

*Cover Crops: Interspersing different plants among rows of commodity crops helps keep soil healthy by providing key nutrients, reducing erosion, improving water retention and serving as a natural weed suppressant. Many cover crops can also support the ecosystem by supporting various wildlife and pollinators.
*Crop Rotation: Planting the same crops in the same fields repeatedly can create a nutrient imbalance in the soil. Some farmers apply fertilizers to maintain a healthy balance. Others alternate what they plant from year to year to add key nutrients back into the soil. Both approaches can keep the land productive for years to come.
*No-Till: Not tilling farmland helps prevent soil erosion by preserving structures like root systems, worm casing and microbes found just below the surface. Farmers who practice no-till sometimes use cover crops and crop rotation to help control weeds and keep their soil from getting compacted.

Apart from practicing Agriculture, I have attended numerous Environmental lectures,seminars and I have as well taught students.
