Ekuah-Rose Quansah-Hart

Ekuah-Rose Quansah-Hart is the founder of Asaasa Sustainability, a women-led social enterprise focused on transforming textile waste into social, environmental and economic value.

Her entrepreneurial journey is rooted in a personal connection to second-hand clothing. Having grown up in a household where second-hand clothes were an important part of everyday life, Ekuah-Rose developed an early understanding that clothing can have value far beyond its first owner. This experience, combined with her growing concern about textile waste and its environmental and social consequences, inspired her to create Asaasa.

Through Asaasa Sustainability, Ekuah-Rose is developing innovative approaches to circular textiles, responsible reuse, sustainability education and community engagement. Her work looks beyond simply encouraging people to recycle, exploring how discarded textiles can become resources for learning, enterprise, employment and community development.

A particular focus of her work is the relationship between textile consumption in the UK and its impact in the Global South. Ekuah-Rose is passionate about improving the quality and responsibility of second-hand clothing entering international markets, while supporting communities to find more sustainable ways of managing textiles.

She is also developing creative educational programmes that encourage children, young people, businesses and communities to become part of the solution — helping people understand the journey of their clothes and giving them practical opportunities to reduce waste.

For Ekuah-Rose, entrepreneurship is not simply about building a successful business. It is about identifying a problem, seeing an opportunity where others see waste, and creating something that can generate lasting social and environmental impact.

Through Asaasa Sustainability, she is building a model of entrepreneurship that connects innovation, sustainability, education and social purpose — demonstrating that doing good and creating economic value can go hand in hand.
