Elvin Abdullayev

Elvin Abdulla is an award-winning film director, entrepreneur, and media visionary with over two decades of professional experience in the film and creative industries. Born in 1990 into a family of artists—his father a renowned Azerbaijani actor and laureate of the “Art Patriot” medal—Elvin stepped into the spotlight at the age of 5, making his debut on national television alongside his father.

By the age of 7, Elvin was independently hosting a one-hour live TV show, and at 8, he landed a role in the feature film “How Beautiful is This World”. He later graduated from the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (2008–2012), cementing his academic foundation in filmmaking and storytelling.

Over the years, Elvin has worked with international figures such as Shane Hurlbut (Director of Photography for “Terminator Salvation”, “Need for Speed”), Rupert Wainwright (“Stigmata”, “The Fog”), and Hollywood star Milla Jovovich (“Resident Evil”, “The Fifth Element”), gaining valuable cross-cultural experience in directing and production.

His short film “Santa Mariya Ship” won Best Director at the No Smoking Film Festival 2014, followed by the Best of the Best award in Baku (2015). In 2017, Elvin made a national impact with “Khennas”, the first horror film in Azerbaijani cinema history, which won Best Cinema Film of the Year and was officially selected by both the Fajr International Film Festival (Iran) and Eurasia Film Festival (Kazakhstan).

In recent years, Elvin has channeled his creative expertise into entrepreneurship. He is the founder of Kinobox.az, a next-generation streaming platform focused on empowering regional filmmakers, showcasing local talent, and revolutionizing digital film distribution in the Caucasus and Central Asia. Through Kinobox, Elvin is building a bridge between cinema and technology—unlocking new revenue models for content creators while offering audiences bold, authentic stories.

Elvin also leads Dream Big Film Company, where he continues to direct, produce, and mentor emerging talent. With his unique blend of artistic integrity, business acumen, and global perspective, Elvin Abdulla is on a mission to reshape the future of cinema from Azerbaijan to the world.
