Janese Henderson

Janese is the Founder and Executive Director of Jan’s Empowerment Institute (JEI) Inc., a non-profit company which seeks to help unearth and develop the full potential of individuals through education, training, entrepreneurship, mentorship, job creation and innovation. Janese is also the owner of Cheretta’s Cakes & Pastries, a home-based bakery established in 2016. Janese is a 2017 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Professional Fellow.

Janese is a passionate and enthusiastic Educator with over ten years teaching experience. Her role is not only to inspire confidence in our people, but also to challenge, motivate and empower them to use their gifts, talents and abilities to effect change in society.

Janese earned a BSc (Honours) in Science and Education: majors in Chemistry and Mathematics and a minor in Education from the University of Technology, Jamaica in 2008. She completed a Master of Philosophy in Chemistry at the University of the West Indies, Mona in Jamaica in 2014. She considers herself a lifelong learning and has pursued numerous online and professional courses in leadership, entrepreneurship, climate change, cake baking and decorating, among others.

Janese values integrity, persistence, humility and compassion. She is altruistic in nature and has rendered invaluable service to numerous institutions and individuals locally, regionally and internationally.
