Javier Perez

Javier is native of the town of Manati, Puerto Rico. He has served as an ardent defender of agriculture as a source of development and economic growth for Puerto Rico. His business incubator project, Genesis Agroempresarial facilitates students and people interested in starting agribusiness. He has worked with community organizations such as COSSAO, Fundacion Bucarabon, Unidos por Utuado, Center for Puerto Rico of the Sila Calderon Foundation, among others. At UPR Utuado, Javier has held numerous responsibilities as an academic advisor, member of the Administrative Board and member of the Academic Senate, and Director of the Department of Agricultural Technology. He has taught economics, agricultural economics, entrepreneurship, agricultural marketing, and agricultural finance among other courses at the University of Puerto Rico in Utuado for 23 years. Previously, Javier worked in the Department of Agriculture, administering the budget of the Marketing Program of the Agricultural Services and Development Administration, and buying agricultural products for 300,000 students at the School Dining Program of Puerto Rico. He holds a Ph.D. in Project Management from the Universidad Internacional Iberoamericana's of Campeche in Mexico, a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a Mayor in Economics both from UPR Mayaguez.
