Jean Ross is a second-career nurse, entrepreneur, and advocate dedicated to transforming how families and healthcare professionals engage with health information. As the CEO and Co-founder of Primary Record, Jean leads a platform designed to help families and professionals collect, organize, and share health data—bridging gaps in care coordination and improving access to actionable health insights.

Jean’s journey into healthcare began at 29, transitioning from patient financial services to critical care nursing. Witnessing firsthand how disconnected health information created barriers for families and clinicians alike, she founded a care coordination business in 2015. In 2020, she co-founded Primary Record with neighbor and technologist Jim McIntosh to give families a single source of truth for their health information. In 2024, recognizing the need for greater collaboration, they expanded Primary Record to include AI-powered tools and a chat assistant that help families validate their health story, organize medical information, and add personal notes and context—ensuring their data is more useful when shared with professionals.

This shift has led to new insights on how AI can help families actively engage with their health data, allowing them to spot discrepancies, track progress, and communicate more effectively with care teams. Additionally, Primary Record Pro now supports professionals who assist families outside traditional health systems—such as assisted living providers, foster care organizations, guardianship services, and independent advocates—to ensure better continuity of care.
A recognized leader in patient advocacy and healthcare innovation, Jean serves on Community Health Network’s Patient and Family Advisory Council. She has been honored for her work in nursing advocacy, dementia education, and health policy. She regularly speaks to nursing undergraduate students about how nurses can impact healthcare through advocacy and innovation.

Jean is passionate about ensuring no family has to navigate the healthcare system alone. Outside of her professional work, she is the mother of three sons and the wife of Dr. Christian Ross. She is also renowned for her chocolate chip cookies, a recipe she playfully vows to reveal only in her obituary.
