Daniel Jimenez-Quiroz

Daniel Jiménez Quiroz promotes the arts and publishing of comics, illustrated books and graphic novels in Colombia.

Since 2006 Daniel has worked as publisher of LARVA, a specialist magazine in Colombia dedicated to the promotion of comics and illustrated arts by authors from around the world. LARVA has published Latin American comic authors and has established itself as a unique publication in the sector. Some of its international collaborators include Shaun Tan, Jon McNaught, Liniers, Peter Bagge, Powerpaola, Anders Nilsen, Ulli Lust, Olivier Schrauwen, Bef, Max, almost 70 artists from 28 countries. He also heads up the organisation that runs Entreviñetas, the most important festival dedicated to graphic novels and comics in Latin America. Daniel has been awarded with the YCE Award to the young entrepreneur publisher by the London Book Fair in 2012. He has received a research scholarship in arts by the Luis Ángel Arango Library in Bogotá and the Banco de la República. In 2013 he was included, by the Buenos Aires Book Fair, in the list of the 70 most influential names in the Spanish-speaking publishing world. He has played a key role as one of the most active cultural managers in Colombia in the field of visual arts, the promotion of literacy, as well as in the independent publishing industry.
