Juris Klonovs

Juris Klonovs is the founder and CEO of BirgerMind SIA. He is an expert in AI, Machine Learning, ICT, Automation, and real-time biomedical signal analysis, with over 18 years of professional experience. He has also been involved in ALS care practice since 2011. Over the years, Juris has developed numerous complex IT systems with cluster infrastructures to automate various tedious tasks for the sake of human safety and comfort.

Juris has extensive experience in large-scale industrial digitalization projects, as well as in the technical coordination of EU and national research and development initiatives. He has gained over 10 years of university teaching and project supervision experience at Aalborg University Copenhagen in Denmark, Ventspils University of Applied Sciences and Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies in Latvia, the University of Bologna and the University of Verona in Italy, as well as the National Research Council of Italy. Since 2021, he has been fully dedicated to pursuing BirgerMind, which has become his life mission. Since then, he has consistently invested 80–100 working hours per week into the development of BirgerMind.

BirgerMind® builds breakthrough non-invasive brain-computer interfaces, shaping the future of the global assistive technology market. In 2024, BirgerMind won 1st place in the Entrepreneurship World Cup Latvia National Finals and was shortlisted among the Top 100 worldwide, representing Latvia on the global stage at the BIBAN Forum in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Earlier this year, BirgerMind was ranked as the Top 1 Software Developer, Machine Learning, and AI company according to F6S, among two million enterprises. BirgerMind is a proud member of the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), the Latvian Startup Association "Startin.LV", and the Green-Tech Cluster. It is actively involved in various support programs in collaboration with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and the European Digital Infrastructure Consortium (EDIC).

Juris is the author of the Springer book «Distributed Computing and Monitoring Technologies for Older Patients» (in press – 2016), as well as numerous scientific research publications in high-impact journals. He is a proud member of the prestigious and world-changing EIT Health Alumni Network community and a member of IEEE – the world’s largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. He is also a recognized reviewer for IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier scientific journals, including Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence (impact factor 8).

He pursued his PhD in Biomedical Engineering (2012-2016) after earning MSc in Innovative Communication Technologies and Entrepreneurship at Aalborg University Copenhagen in Denmark, while he also holds an MSc degree in Computer Science and a BSc from Ventspils University of Applied Sciences in Latvia. Since then, Juris is actively involved in mentoring and tutoring university students and deep-tech teams at all levels around the world.
