Lee Timutimu

lee timutimu (hapū: ngāi taiwhakaea, ngā pōtiki, tamakaimoana, te whānau ā rakairoa) lee is ceo & founder of arataki systems. he’s worked in the it industry for almost 20 years, primarily in the it support services space. he has deep networks and relationships into the māori tech ecosystem and public and private sectors in aotearoa nz. he’s also the founder of te reo wainene o tua, co-founder of ko maui hangarau, te hapori matihiko and tumu labs, and ceo of te matarau - the māori tech association. lee was born and raised in whakatāne, but now lives with his whānau (family) in kirikiriroa (hamilton), aotearoa new zealand. an interest in computers, design and story telling has seen me go from it engineer to analyst to film maker and most recently to founder of a 100% māori owned tech company called arataki systems. using a proximity based phone app, users can unlock authentic historical content and stories in places of cultural significance around aotearoa new zealand, helping share and preserve the culture of māori story telling for future generations. arataki systems are a māori owned, whānau (family) owned tech company that provide end to end technology solutions and cultural tech advisory. i am passionate about increasing both the representation and participation of māori in tech. a lot of the mahi (work) i do sees me leading and advocating in this space.
