LaVeta L. Hughes is a dynamic intrapreneur with over 30 years of experience in program design, organizational effectiveness, and community-driven innovation. She currently serves as Program Chair at Ivy Tech Community College, where she leads curriculum development, faculty oversight, and entrepreneurial ecosystem building with a focus on student success and workforce readiness.

Her career spans the public, nonprofit, and educational sectors, with notable roles including Senior Policy Analyst and Contract Manager at the NYC Department of Homeless Services, where she led strategic initiatives to improve service delivery and compliance for vulnerable populations. She also serves as an Associate with Future Quest, Inc., an educational consulting firm, where she supports program design, college readiness, and leadership development for youth.

LaVeta previously managed the national Beat the Odds program at the Children’s Defense Fund, providing college access support to hundreds of students nationwide. Her commitment to civic engagement and equity has driven her to write grants for small businesses, supporting community-based entrepreneurship and local economic development.

Known for her strategic mindset, stakeholder engagement expertise, and ability to translate complex challenges into actionable solutions, LaVeta has also developed election compliance infrastructure for the City of Atlanta and built employer engagement pipelines connecting thousands of students to career opportunities.

She holds dual master’s degrees in Public Administration and Social Work from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from Purdue University. LaVeta is a passionate advocate for empowering communities, fostering inclusive growth, and unlocking pathways to opportunity through education and entrepreneurship.
