Lucio Simonella

I specialize in the development and adaptation of analytical techniques aimed at detecting compounds of interest, generating methodologies or electrochemical sensors for the determination of organic or inorganic compounds.

I work as a teacher-researcher in the department of physical chemistry at FCQ-UNC. My goal is to develop platforms to improve biosensing systems. Additionally, I am a co-founder of NovoSens, where we focus on the development of biosensors for the rapid and specific measurement of compounds of interest in health. It aims to solve specific problems or address technological challenges through development, innovation, technology transfer, and technical assistance. I also advise ventures in product development; for example, I advise the company Riante on its formulation for the valorization of pig effluents.

Previously, I worked in laboratories in various branches of science. In the first 4 years of my undergraduate career, I worked on natural products at the Faculty of Chemical Sciences, extracting and characterizing alkaloids in native plants and their action as herbicides. Then, for 2 years, I worked in an immunology laboratory, both in vitro and in vivo, on the action of a protein on tumor cells. After that, I worked in a Geochemistry laboratory designing a technique for the quantification of iron in dust.

In the academic field, I have a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. in Geology, having completed various postgraduate courses. Additionally, I am a Statistics teacher at UNC in the FCQ.

I also founded and owned a bar (La Red Cyber-Bar) for 2 years and a technology sales and repair store (Panashop) for 8 years.

I enjoy sports a lot; I am a provincial athlete in 100m and 200m sprints and an amateur soccer player."
