Malaika Waqar

My name is Malaika Waqar, and I am a youth leader, community builder, and social impact professional from Peshawar, Pakistan. I completed my BS in International Relations from the University of Peshawar, where I developed a strong academic foundation in diplomacy, policy studies, and global affairs. Over the years, I have built a diverse portfolio of leadership roles, community initiatives, and advocacy work driven by my passion for empowering young people and uplifting underprivileged communities.

I am currently working as the Campus Coordinator at the Arfa Karim Technology Incubator (AKTI) in Peshawar. In this role, I focus on youth engagement, technology awareness, and developing creative and professional skills among students. I support program implementation, manage activities, assist young innovators, and promote a campus environment where youth can explore opportunities in tech, entrepreneurship, and personal development. My work allows me to mentor students, support their ideas, and help them build the confidence needed to excel in the modern digital world.

I am also the Co-Founder of KHEGARAH, a women-led initiative inspired by the Pashto word meaning “doing good” or “helping someone.” Through KHEGARAH, I have helped design and implement community outreach programs, educational workshops, and climate-awareness activities that have impacted more than 100 students. My work involves strategic planning, content development, and collaboration with partner organizations to create meaningful learning experiences for marginalized communities.

During my time at the University of Peshawar, I served as the Secretary General of the International Relations Students Association (IRSA), where I led a team in organizing more than 20 academic discussions, policy dialogues, and advocacy events. I also served as Vice President of MOS – Mirror of Society, conducting leadership and professional development trainings for students. Earlier, as Social Welfare Secretary of IRSA, I organized community welfare activities that supported students through mentorship and awareness campaigns.

I am also an Executive Member of PUAN (Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network), where I help organize alumni engagement and networking events that bring together young leaders, professionals, and changemakers from across the region.

I have participated in national and international programs, including the World Anti-Extremism Network Fellowship, the English Works Program (U.S. Embassy), and global courses on diplomacy, marketing, career development, and security studies. These experiences have strengthened my leadership, analytical, and communication skills.

Digitally, I am proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, social media management, content writing, and professional communication. I am fluent in Pashto, Urdu, and English, which helps me engage effectively with diverse communities.

At my core, I am passionate about youth development, women empowerment, social innovation, and community uplift. Whether through technology programs, educational initiatives, or writing, I aim to create opportunities that help people grow, learn, and thrive. I believe in work that carries purpose and impact, and I am committed to contributing to Pakistan’s development through leadership, service, and meaningful community engagement.
