Mariam Olayinka Alamu

Mariam Alamu is a distinguished professional in education, business administration, and research. Born and raised in Nigeria, Mariam has developed a career that spans multiple roles and disciplines, showcasing her dedication and versatility in various educational and administrative capacities. She currently resides in Kent, Ohio, where she is pursuing a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction at Kent State University.
Mariam began her higher education journey at the University of Ilorin in Nigeria, where she studied Educational Management from 2011 to 2015. Her passion for business and management led her to further her studies at Cyprus International University, where she earned her MBA in Business Administration in June 2018. Continuing her pursuit of advanced education, she completed her Master of Science in International Business from Near East Boulevard, Nicosia, Cyprus in June 2024.
Mariam’s professional career is highlighted by her tenure as a lecturer at Crescent University in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, from May 2019 to December 2022. In this role, she was responsible for delivering high-quality lectures, developing course materials, and designing curricula aligned with the Management and Business Administration field. She was deeply involved in mentoring and guiding students, providing academic advice, and supporting their learning journey through office hours, facilitating discussions, and offering needed assistance.
In January 2022, Mariam enrolled at Cuesta College in San Luis Obispo, California, where she completed a certification program with honors. This achievement added to her robust educational background, enhancing her skills and knowledge in her chosen fields of expertise.
In August 2023, Mariam took on the role of Assistant Resident Hall Director at Kent State University. Here, she oversees the day-to-day operations of the residential halls, supporting and mentoring resident advisors and ensuring a safe and inclusive living environment for all residents. This role has allowed her to apply her diverse skills and knowledge in real-time, enhancing the living and learning experiences of the university’s community.
Mariam's academic prowess is also evident in her research work. She has contributed to notable publications such as the International Journal of Science and Research, where she explored the impact of work-life balance on job satisfaction among workers in Shell Nigeria. Her research interests extend to organizational culture and corporate sustainability, with specific focus on Nigerian petroleum companies, and integrating embedded
