Marilyn Bruno

Marilyn J. Bruno – Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer of Aequor Inc. and Aequor Ltd (UK), develops corporate, regulatory and business strategy, raised over $1.5 million cash, built a virtual management team and proactive business advisory board, won over $3M in U.S. and EU grants and negotiated over $5M of in-kind support from U.S. agencies (DOD, DOE, USDA, NASA). Prior to joining Aequor, Dr. Bruno has over 20 years of C-level experience in international business, finance and law, spanning careers as executive administrator of a multinational company overseas, investment analyst, stock and commodity broker on Wall Street, Vice President of a Bank, Founder and CEO of a pre-internet trading service supporting her consulting work structuring countertrade financing for governments and multinationals. For founding over 70 startups and financing > $20M in trade, she was elected Woman Entrepreneur of the Year, named to the President’s Blue Ribbon Committee on National Security, and featured in Bloomberg/Business Week. Marilyn then went to law school, earned membership in the Bars of FL, NJ, NY and DC. served as a Clerk in the U.S. Court of International Trade, and is licensed to argue before the U.S. Supreme Court. She then served as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service for 16 years, responsible for Economic and Environmental affairs. She joined Aequor in 2008 to support Cynthia Burzell, Ph.D., who discovered novel chemical compounds in the ocean that inhibit the ability of unwanted bacteria and fungi to attach to surfaces/ form biofilm, contaminate and infect. They can replace thousands of toxic chemicals because they work alone against the antimicrobial resistant (AMR) pathogens -- the Superbugs -- and also potentiate ineffective biocides and antibiotics to kill Superbugs at doses too low to trigger resistance. Aequor's current products (water treatments, cleaners, crop protection and biostimulants) use bioinspired analogs, 25 of which are U.S. EPA Toxic Substances Control Act-approved as non-toxic and green. NASA was Aequor's first customer to eliminate contamination in the water reuse/recycling system used on board the ISS. Dr. Bruno lectures on carbon capture and sustainability. She was invited to speak at the United Nations General Assembly High Level Meetings on AMR since every Superbug is a biofilm-former, and Aequor advances the One Health approach to eliminating AMR at all vectors of transmission, while ensuring global access to cures at low cost. Our affiliates sell technologies that destroy PFAS and microplastics in water, algae blooms, etc.
