Md. Enamul Haque

Profile of Md. Enamul Haque: Experienced Entrepreneurial Leader

Md. Enamul Haque is a highly experienced entrepreneurial leader, educator, and certified master trainer with over 14 years of professional experience in fostering entrepreneurship, enterprise development, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET). His extensive expertise in entrepreneurship development, combined with his role as a Certified Master Trainer for the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) program, positions him as a key figure in driving entrepreneurial growth and resilience across Bangladesh. His work has empowered thousands of individuals to establish and grow sustainable businesses, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, retail, green business, and technology-driven enterprises.

Entrepreneurial Training and Capacity Building

Enamul has successfully led numerous SIYB training cycles, including Training of Trainers (ToT) and Training of Entrepreneurs (ToE), benefiting over 800 individuals across Bangladesh. His training programs focus on key entrepreneurial skills such as business planning, financial management, market access, and sustainability. Through these initiatives, he has enabled participants to negotiate better deals, expand their market reach, and explore meaningful commercial partnerships. His work has been particularly impactful in the Cox’s Bazar region, where he has trained agriculture retailers and other entrepreneurs, significantly improving their business practices and livelihoods.

One notable achievement includes a 15-day Entrepreneurship Development Training (EDT) conducted under the Ashshash project with WINROCK, where 22 out of 24 trainees successfully established their own businesses. This initiative not only fostered entrepreneurship but also created sustainable livelihoods in the region, demonstrating Enamul’s ability to deliver tangible results through entrepreneurial training.

Leadership in Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development

As the elected Vice President of the SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh and Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Research Center (EDRC) at ZNRF University of Management Sciences, Enamul has spearheaded research, business, development services, and training initiatives aimed at developing a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem. His leadership has been instrumental in promoting entrepreneurship education, conducting research on enterprise development, and fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and government. His efforts have contributed to the creation of a supportive environment for aspiring entrepreneurs, enabling them to turn innovative ideas into successful businesses.

Innovation and Technology-Driven Entrepreneurship

Enamul’s entrepreneurial vision extends beyond traditional training programs. He has been actively involved in innovative projects that integrate technology with entrepreneurship to solve real-world problems. For example, he has provided business development support for the IoT-based SAU Smart Solar Dryer initiative, which leverages smart technology to enhance the fish drying process, making products healthier and suitable for export. This project not only improves the quality of dried fish products but also creates new business opportunities for local entrepreneurs in Cox’s Bazar, showcasing his ability to combine technological innovation with entrepreneurial development.

Promoting Gender-Balanced Entrepreneurship

Enamul is a strong advocate for gender-balanced participation in entrepreneurship. He has consistently promoted the inclusion of women in his training programs, ensuring that both male and female entrepreneurs have equal opportunities to develop their skills and grow their businesses. His work under the GIZ Livelihood Project in Cox’s Bazar, where he trained 25 female entrepreneurs, is a testament to his commitment to empowering women through entrepreneurship.

Recognition and Awards

Enamul’s contributions to entrepreneurship and skills development have been widely recognized. He has received numerous awards, including the Networking Award by the Skillman Network, EU, and the Bangladesh Innovation Award 2021. These accolades reflect his dedication to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

Strategic Leadership in Entrepreneurial Organizations

As the Vice President of the SIYB Foundation of Bangladesh, Enamul plays a strategic role in promoting the SIYB methodology across the country. He oversees initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and business development, collaborating with key stakeholders to enhance the impact of the foundation’s programs. His leadership has been pivotal in expanding the reach of SIYB training and creating a supportive ecosystem for entrepreneurs.

Contributions to National Entrepreneurship Development

Enamul’s work extends to the national level, where he has contributed to the development of the Bangladesh National Qualification Framework (BNQF). As a key member of the
