Michael D. Crain

Councilman Michael D. Crain is dedicated to making Fort Worth the best city for small businesses and entrepreneurs. With a background as a real estate broker, Michael has championed efforts to cut bureaucratic red tape at City Hall, streamlining processes so owning and operating a business in Fort Worth is faster, cheaper and more efficient. He works closely with local entrepreneurs to identify barriers and implements solutions that foster growth and innovation.

Michael holds a B.A. from Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School, a J.D. from Texas A&M University School of Law, and an M.B.A. from Rutgers Business School. He has also completed executive leadership programs at Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business and leadership classes at Harvard Kennedy School, further enhancing his ability to serve the business community with cutting-edge strategies and best practices.

His public service career includes roles with former Fort Worth Mayor Kenneth Barr, Congressman Pete Geren, and Congresswoman Kay Granger, as well as serving in President George W. Bush’s administration and as Chief of Staff at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing. On the City Council, Michael prioritizes policies that reduce costs and regulatory burdens for small businesses, working with leaders at all levels to ensure Fort Worth remains a hub for innovation.

Michael is also active in community organizations and, with his wife Joanna, co-founded Foodie Philanthropy to support local charities. Recognized as one of Fort Worth’s 500 Most Influential People, he continues to advocate for a vibrant, business-friendly city.
