Migdalia Figueroa

Migdalia Figueroa serves as President and General Manager of Telemundo Puerto Rico / WKAQ. In this role, she oversees all aspects of the Telemundo-owned station, including news, digital, sales, marketing/promotions, human resources, community affairs, and technology/operations.

A Puerto Rico native who was named to her current position in January 2024, Figueroa has nearly 35 years of experience in media. For nearly two decades, she has held news and leadership roles for Telemundo and NBC stations and previously spent nearly 15 years with Univision.

Prior to joining WKAQ, Figueroa was President & General Manager for Telemundo 31 Orlando / WTMO for nearly four years, beginning in August 2020. During her final year with WTMO, she was also President & General Manager of Telemundo 49 Tampa and Telemundo Ft. Myers-Naples.

Previously, Figueroa served as Vice President of News for NBC 6 / WTVJ, the NBC-owned station serving the Miami-Fort Lauderdale market, for eight years. In that role, she implemented new editorial, production styles, and workflows, and led the launch of the station’s dedicated investigative team and consumer investigative unit and led coverage of several major news events.

Figueroa previously spent two years as Senior Vice President of Content and Branding for the Telemundo Station Group. She joined NBCUniversal in 2005 as Vice President of News for Miami’s Telemundo 51 / WSCV, a position she held for more than six years. During her tenure, she helped WSCV become the most-watched station for local news among key demo groups in any language.

Figueroa has also held numerous roles at Univision Network including General Producer for the network program “El Show de Cristina,” Executive Producer for WLTV local news and Univision.com, Producer for Univision Network’s weekend newscasts, and Producer for Univision New York.

A multiple-time Suncoast Emmy Award-winner and Silver Circle Award recipient, Figueroa launched her career in broadcast journalism in Puerto Rico as a news producer for WSJN-Channel 24. She earned a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from the University of Puerto Rico.
