Maria Luisa Hayem

María Luisa Hayem Brevé has a track record of more than 13 years in international development, which began as Counselor of the Permanent Mission of El Salvador to the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland in 2003. From 2009 to 2016, she worked for the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and later, for the Consultative Group to Assist the Poor (CGAP), where she led projects on international remittances and innovation and access to financial services for the lowest income people in Latin America and the Caribbean and Africa.

In addition, Maria Luisa has completed internships in Paris, France in 2002 for the company Netevents and in New Delhi, India in 2008 for the U.S. non-profit organization Project Concern International.

Maria Luisa holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business from the Escuela Superior de Economia y Negocios (ESEN) in La Libertad, El Salvador. She also holds a Masters in Law and Diplomacy, with a focus on Economic Development and International Business, from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, Boston, Massachusetts; a Certificate in Project Management from Georgetown University, Washington, DC; and a French Language Diploma from La Sorbonne, Paris.

Her interest in working for a better El Salvador and her passion for technology adoption, led her in 2010 to create the non-profit organization, Mentoring International, which has benefited hundreds of young people in El Salvador through mentoring provided by professionals worldwide through an online educational platform. In addition, since 2012 she has been a member of the Board of Directors of the IDB employees' Asociación Pro Niñez Salvadoreña (APRONSA), which supports orphanages in the Salvadoran territory.

To guide the planning and strategic execution of all resources and efforts towards the fulfillment of institutional objectives, all within the framework of current legal regulations, to promote higher levels of economic growth to generate new employment opportunities and better living conditions for the Salvadoran population.
