  • Founder Connect Details

Mo Ibrahim is a health innovation leader, medtech founder, and systems thinker working at the intersection of global health, entrepreneurship, and organisational leadership. Originally trained as a dentist in Sudan, he has transitioned fully from clinical practice into building and leading initiatives that tackle structural gaps in healthcare, with a particular focus on underserved communities and African health systems.
Today, Mo is the Co‑Founder and CEO of IVS Health, a Swedish medtech and health-systems company headquartered in Gothenburg. IVS Health (Institutional Voids Solutions) is dedicated to creating systemic solutions to challenges caused by institutional voids in healthcare—those critical gaps where policies, processes, or infrastructure fail to serve patients and providers effectively. In this role, Mo leads the company’s strategic direction, builds partnerships, and drives the design and implementation of operational models that are both innovative and realistic in low‑resource and complex settings. His work is rooted in the belief that meaningful healthcare change requires both local insight and global collaboration.
Mo’s leadership journey started long before IVS Health. In 2019, he co‑founded the original IVS in Sudan, where he pioneered a three‑hub operational model (Auditing, Engagement, Solutions) to improve healthcare delivery and governance. He worked closely with NGOs, government actors, and public providers, helping to shape health policy discussions and deliver concrete projects. During the COVID‑19 pandemic, he played a key role in leading large‑scale response efforts, including operational command for a major emergency response centre in Khartoum, managing over 100 staff and thousands of daily calls. These experiences strengthened his ability to lead under pressure, design data‑driven systems, and align diverse stakeholders around shared priorities.
Beyond entrepreneurship, Mo has held significant leadership roles in civil society and humanitarian settings. As Team Leader for the Swedish Red Cross international English‑speaking fundraising team in Gothenburg, he recruited, trained, and coached a diverse team, improving fundraising performance and building a strong culture of collaboration and purpose. In earlier work with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), he contributed to public engagement and fundraising, helping connect communities to global humanitarian causes. Across these roles, he has consistently been the person who builds teams, provides structure, and combines empathy with clear expectations.
Academically, Mo combines a robust theoretical foundation with practical, business‑oriented training. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Health from the University of Gothenburg, where he deepened his understanding of health systems, health economics, governance, and equity in a global context. He is also completing a Master’s in Bioentrepreneurship at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading medical universities. This programme has strengthened his skills in innovation management, business development, strategic thinking, and the commercialisation of life science solutions. For Mo, this dual background is not just a credential; it is a way of thinking that allows him to move fluently between policy, practice, and business models.
Mo is proud to be an alumnus of the Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarship for Global Professionals, a recognition awarded to future leaders who are expected to contribute to sustainable development and international collaboration. Living in Sweden and being rooted in Sudan gives him a dual perspective: he understands the realities and constraints of health systems in low‑ and middle‑income countries, while being embedded in Nordic innovation ecosystems, academic networks, and diplomatic circles. He maintains active relationships with African embassies in Sweden and regularly engages with actors across governments, NGOs, and the private sector.
Across all his work, a few themes stand out: a commitment to building and empowering teams, a systems-level view of healthcare, and a calm, principled leadership style. Mo is not driven by quick wins, but by long‑term, sustainable change. Whether he is leading a startup, advising public institutions, or contributing to international collaborations, he brings the same core strengths: strategic clarity, operational discipline, cultural sensitivity, and genuine motivation to improve how healthcare works for people who need it most.
