Muziwethu Mtshali

Muziwethu “Muzi” Mtshali is a South African entrepreneur, ecosystem builder and business leader focused on creating stronger pathways for entrepreneurs to build sustainable, scalable businesses.

He is the CEO of Entreprenerdy South Africa, an entrepreneurship development company that works with corporates, institutions and ecosystem partners to design, manage and measure entrepreneurship and enterprise development programmes. Through Entreprenerdy, Muzi has been at the intersection of entrepreneurship strategy, technology, programme implementation and commercialisation, with a particular focus on moving entrepreneurial support beyond once-off training towards measurable business growth.

Entreprenerdy combines the Systemic Entrepreneurship Activity Method (SEAM), a research-informed entrepreneurship methodology developed in collaboration with European researchers, with its Entrepreneurship Management System (EMS), a digital platform designed to support the recruitment, assessment, development, coordination and performance tracking of entrepreneurs. Under Muzi’s leadership, the company has worked across enterprise and supplier development, small business development and entrepreneurship ecosystems, engaging corporates, development organisations and institutions across Southern Africa.

His work is driven by a belief that entrepreneurship programmes should ultimately help businesses become more commercially viable, resilient and connected to real markets. He has been involved in programmes spanning sectors including mining, recycling and the circular economy, financial services, creative industries and supplier development. His approach places particular emphasis on understanding the individual entrepreneur, diagnosing the real constraints affecting the business, and building targeted interventions around growth, market access, operational capability and long-term sustainability.

Muzi’s entrepreneurial journey extends beyond Entreprenerdy. He is also a co-founder and Managing Partner of MNM Creative Agency, through which he has built and developed entertainment, cultural and experiential brands. His experience across both the entrepreneurship and creative sectors has shaped a multidisciplinary perspective on innovation, consumer behaviour, community, culture and business development.

His career has also included broadcasting and music. As a radio presenter and DJ, Muzi has built platforms that connect audiences through music, culture and conversation. This experience has reinforced his interest in how ideas move through communities and how platforms, networks and storytelling can help create economic opportunity.

Born and raised in Orlando West, Soweto, Muzi’s perspective on entrepreneurship is deeply informed by South Africa’s economic realities. He is particularly interested in how entrepreneurship can contribute to employment, economic participation, supplier development and the creation of businesses that can compete beyond the environments in which they were founded.

Across his work, Muzi advocates for entrepreneurship ecosystems that are more coordinated, evidence-led and commercially focused. He believes that Africa has no shortage of entrepreneurial ambition, but that entrepreneurs require stronger systems around them: better diagnostics, relevant support, access to markets, appropriate capital, technology, mentorship and institutions that remain accountable for the outcomes of the businesses they support.

His broader mission is to contribute to an African entrepreneurship ecosystem in which more entrepreneurs are able to progress from ambition to sustainable enterprise, and from sustainable enterprise to meaningful economic impact.
