Nicolas Corrales

My name is Nicolas Corrales Morato and I am 24 years old. I went to Colegio San Carlos (Bogotá) where I earned my high school degree and afterwards I did my Bachelor program in Business Administration at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá). Throughout my academic path I created a high interest in the creation of sustainable businesses and the development of social impact projects, together with a focused training on corporate finance, social responsibility and general management.
All this led me into activities such as the hult prize, a social responsibility competition organized by Hult University in Boston. The objective was to develop a proposal with my 5-member team to create a sustainable solution to the problem of hunger in urban slums. The solution was presented to several judges who are members of public and private boards at an international level.
Additionally, driven by the passion to educate, I worked as a teacher assistant on various courses throughout the bachelor´s leading and co creating activities to teach business in a more social-oriented way.
At the same time I had the opportunity to learn about new educational models such as the PBL (Problem Based Learning), that is the current methodology used in Maastricht School of Business and Economics, where I did a one semester exchange program, taking several courses and engaging in this alternative education methodology focused on making the learning method one that is explicitly student-centred rather than teacher-centred.
Finally, I was a volunteer and co founder of a project called Una Sonrisa por Colombia. The project's objective was to make a significant positive impact on society throughout education and paradigm shift activities. We made events to help homeless and people living in slums. Along the way, we offered education to children and young people, we partnered with another foundation to build a kinder garden and we developed activities that empowered the local community to move forward.

Currently, I am working on the development of two projects: My Rights and Quántica. My Rights is a platform where Colombian citizens can find their legal rights and obligations translated into a simple, clear and straightforward language. We have noticed how Colombian people do not acknowledge the power and content of their rights as citizens. In that sense when there is, in a day-to-day basis, unsolved conflicts, discussions or unjust acts, we see several needs that have to be fulfilled by means of the rights that every citizen is entitled to use.
Quántica is a school whose objective is to teach social entrepreneurship as a proactive and collective mind-set with a strong practice – oriented focus. The school will be a platform for human and organizational development for the creation of high social impact projects.
