Omar Vega

Omar Vega is the General Partner at Alaya Capital Partners. He been working in the software industry for over 25 years. He started his work experience at UNISYS and worked for more than 15 years in the Telecommunications industry, primarily by participating in projects as a supplier to Claro (América Móvil). Mr. Vega currently works in businesses related to Big Data, Machine Learning, and IoT.

In 1991, he co-founded VATES, a company that provides nearshore staff augmentation and custom software development services to clients all over the world. The company currently has 600+ IT engineers and leaders building next-generation code for clients such as IBM, Intel, Thomson Reuters, Raymour & Flanigan, and more. As one of the company's directors, Mr. Vega is in charge of providing strategic support to the business and production departments for both the domestic and overseas markets, for alignment with the corporate mission and vision.

Mr. Vega is interested in business development in the technological sector and is therefore in continual contact with business chambers, clusters, and hubs, working to influence public policies that benefit SMEs in the sector. 

He is currently Vice-President of the Argentine Chamber of Information Services Companies (CESSI) and Secretary of the Science, Technology and Innovation Department at the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA).

The ups and downs he experienced as an entrepreneur strengthened his passion to promote entrepreneurship in Argentina and the region. That is why we co-founded the Venture Capital firm Alaya Capital Partners with presence in Argentina, Chile and the United States. It promotes, consolidates, and increases the value of tech companies and startups from Latin America through the investment of private and institutional funds in high-impact projects that are at an early stage of development.

Mr. Vega is an information systems engineer who graduated from the National Technological University of Argentina.
