Paola T. Fischer

Paola Torreblanca-Fischer is an international development and strategic partnerships specialist with a strong track record in promoting sustainability and innovation in the mining and energy sectors. Her work focuses on fostering global collaboration and sustainable growth across regions and industries.

As Vice President of Core World Foundation, Paola was one of the key facilitators behind the creation of the UNSA Nexus Institute in Arequipa, Peru. This initiative has significantly benefited both the National University of San Agustín (UNSA) and the region of Arequipa by fostering international research collaborations, increasing access to funding opportunities, and strengthening local academic capacity in fields such as mining, water, and climate resilience. The Institute has become a platform for long-term partnerships with foreign universities and has elevated UNSA’s role as a regional leader in applied research and innovation.

She has also played an active role in environmental remediation and sustainable development projects, such as the Coralaque Project—presented at the PERUMIN 36 Mining Convention in collaboration with the Regional Government of Moquegua. She actively promotes transformative initiatives like the “Sudbury Miracle,” which showcases how one of the most polluted regions in the world became a global model for green mining.

In the academic sphere, she helped establish the UCSM CORE Mining Institute—the first educational mine in Latin America—in partnership with the Universidad Católica de Santa María and Core World Foundation.

Paola is known for her efforts to build bridges between Latin America and North America through strategic collaborations, educational exchanges, and technical training programs, particularly in areas related to critical minerals and sustainable mining.
