Professor of Biostatistics and Health Data Science, focus in behavior science, Indiana University (http://www.biostat.iupui.edu/Faculty/monahan.aspx.). My IU team developed SymTrak survey to track symptoms in primary care for chronic conditions. I invented CareScan, a personality assessment for employment settings to assist with hiring, teamwork, and retention. CareScan is used by MyShyft, LLC, an Uber-like technology start-up company that connects caregivers and careseekers. I was a part owner of MyShyft before a successful exit. I am currently expanding CareScan into a suite of science-based HR tools.
My #1 passion is to address homelessness through innovative self-sustaining housing initiatives. I’m the unpaid founder of a homeless medical respite care program for Indianapolis which I developed with insurance companies and hospitals. I founded Home At Last LLC, a 2015-2021 pilot social enterprise that renovated abandoned homes in high crime Indianapolis neighborhoods then operated housing programs in those homes for persons experiencing severe mental illness, addictions, and homelessness: https://news.iu.edu/stories/2017/12/iupui/inside/14-home-at-last.html. We were 100% self-funded and self-sustaining without grants or tax credits. We learned a lot. We know how to solve homelessness. We are ready for larger scale. We are seeking a donor to fund construction of an innovative 400 micro-studio campus (starting with 50 units if donor prefers proof of concept) for homelessness permanent supportive housing (PSH), using a unique financial model that is operationally self-sustaining, after philanthropy funds the initial construction and first 6 months of operations, where income is from HUD Fair Market Rent, landlord pays utilities, and project is achieved without bureaucracy of grants or low-income housing tax credits.
